Welcome to the Crane & Hoist Service Association Website
Ontario Ministry of Labour (M.O.L.)
(Occupational Health & Safety Branch)
Ever since the association was formed, we have had ongoing communications with the Ontario Ministry of Labour. Occasionally they attend our general meetings to discuss ongoing problems. The M.O.L. have been very helpful in clarifying legislation and assisting us with our goals by putting us in touch with the right people at CSA and the Ministry of Skills and Development.
Canadian Standards Association
As a result of our connections at the M.O.L. two of our members were elected to sit on the committee for the development of a new safety standard for overhead hoists and cranes. This standard encompasses inspection procedures and the qualifications required to inspect and service hoists and cranes.
The above standard was published in late 1996 as CSA B167-96
Recognition
Although it has taken time to achieve the credibility and recognition we deserve, you will be able to advertise that you are a member to a dedicated association that is responsible for developing the CSA B167-96 Safety and Inspection Standard for Overhead Cranes & Hoists. An association that is comitted to following this standard as well as other quality standards and procedures. Ask your potential customer what qualifications and standards does your present service or inspection company follow.
